[00:00.00]The Schmuel Song - Jeremy Jordan
[00:10.89]Schmuel would work till half-past ten at his tailor shop in Klimovich
[00:15.92]Get up at dawn and start again with the hems and pins and twist
[00:23.07]Forty-one years had come and gone at his tailor shop in Klimovich
[00:28.50]Watching the winters soldier on there was one thing Schmuel missed
[00:35.44]If I only had time old Schmuel said
[00:38.26]I would build the dress that's in my head
[00:41.10]A dress to fire
[00:42.58]The mad desire
[00:43.97]Of girls from here to Minsk
[00:46.31]But I have no more hours left to saw
[00:52.30]Then the clock upon the wall began to glow
[01:00.34]And the clock said
[01:01.25]Na na na na na na na
[01:03.08]Oh Schmuel you'll get to be happy
[01:06.31]Na na na na na na na
[01:08.74]I give you unlimited time
[01:11.90]Na na na na na na na
[01:14.24]So Schmuel go sew and be happy
[01:17.15]But Schmuel said
[01:18.10]No no it's not my lot
[01:20.86]I've gotta make do with the time I've got
[01:33.67]Schmuel was done at half-past ten and he said
[01:36.70]Good night old Klimovich
[01:38.95]Put on his coat to go but then the clock cried
[01:42.35]Wait Not yet
[01:45.76]Even though you're not wise or rich
[01:48.34]You're the finest man in Klimovich
[01:51.08]Listen up Schmuel
[01:52.30]Make one stitch and you'll see what you get yet
[01:58.02]But Schmuel said
[01:58.72]Clock it's much too late
[02:00.87]I'm at peace with life
[02:02.26]I accept my fate
[02:03.52]But the clock said
[02:04.46]Schmuel One stitch and you will
[02:06.55]Unlock the dreams you've lost
[02:09.30]So Schmuel with reluctance took his thread
[02:15.17]He pulled a bolt of velvet and said
[02:20.67]I should take out my teeth and go to bed
[02:26.32]I'm sitting here with talking clocks instead
[02:34.07]And the clock said
[02:35.10]Na na na na na na na
[02:37.09]Oh Schmuel you'll get to be happy
[02:40.37]Na na na na na na na
[02:42.75]I give you unlimited time
[02:46.13]Na na na na na na na
[02:48.19]Just do it and you can be happy
[02:51.75]So Schmuel put the thread through the needle's eye
[02:54.70]And the moon stared down from a starless sky
[02:58.90]And he pushed the thread through the velvet black
[03:02.08]And he looked and the clock was turning back
[03:07.41]So he grabbed his shears and he cut some lace
[03:10.27]As the hands moved first on the old clock's face
[03:14.72]And his fingers flew and the fabric swirled
[03:17.54]It was nine-fifteen all around the world
[03:22.54]Every cut and stitch was a perfect fit
[03:25.92]As if God Himself were controlling it
[03:29.19]And Schmuel cried through a rush of tears
[03:33.19]Take me back Take me back all forty-one years
[03:48.76]And on it went down that silent street
[03:53.68]Till Schmuel's dress was at last complete
[03:59.69]And he stretched his arms
[04:02.82]And he closed his eyes
[04:06.14]And the morning sun finally started to rise
[04:19.73]And the dress he made on that endless night
[04:22.88]Was a dress that would make any soul take flight
[04:26.03]Not a swatch not a skein had gone to waste
[04:29.23]Every ribbon and button ideally placed
[04:32.76]And swen into the seams were forty-one seasons of dreams
[04:42.60]Dreams that you could feel
[04:46.55]Coming real
[04:53.98]And that very dress so the papers swore
[04:57.07]Was the dress a girl in Odessa wore
[05:00.16]On the day she promised forevermore
[05:03.43]To love a young man named Schmuel
[05:10.66]Who only one day before
[05:14.97]Had knocked at her kitchen door
[05:28.94]Plenty have hoped and dreamed and prayed
[05:31.44]But they can't get out of Klimovich
[05:36.10]If Schmuel had been a cute goyishe maid
[05:38.86]He'd have looked a lot like you
[05:44.53]Maybe it's just that you're afraid to go out on to a limb-ovich
[05:52.95]Maybe your heart's completely swayed
[05:56.03]But your head can't follow through
[06:00.62]But shouldn't I want the world to see
[06:03.37]The brilliant girl who inspires me
[06:06.28]Don't you think that now's a good time to be
[06:09.03]The ambitious freak you are
[06:12.08]Say goodbye to wiping ashtrays at the bar
[06:18.03]Say hello to Cathy Hiatt a big-time star
[06:26.56]'Cause I say
[06:28.20]Na na na na na na na na
[06:30.35]Cathy you get to be happy
[06:33.58]Na na na na na na na
[06:35.91]I give you unlimited time
[06:38.85]Na na na na na na na
[06:41.08]Stop temping and go go be happy
[06:44.69]Here's a headshot guy and a new BackStage
[06:47.72]Where you're right for something on every page
[06:50.91]Take a breath
[06:52.22]Take a step
[06:53.93]Take a chance
[07:00.22]Take your time
[07:16.04]Have I mentioned today
[07:20.79]How lucky I am
[07:23.73]To be in love with you
